Walk-in Covid vaccinations are being offered at the BIC to Bournemouth University students UNIVERSITY students in Bournemouth are being invited to walk-in session to get a Covid vaccine at the BIC. A statement published on Bournemouth University s (BU) website says vaccinations will be available to students aged over 18 from Tuesday, May 18, until Monday, May 24. The walk-ins have also been promoted on the institution s social media channels. The invitation to students comes at a time this week when across England patients aged 36 and 37 have been invited to book their first jab. Arts University Bournemouth students have received a similar notice, which was publised on the establishment s social media on the afternoon of May 18.

BIC s month Covid jab break - to allow cheerleading contest

THE county’s largest Covid vaccination centre will stop administering coronavirus jabs for a month – to allow a cheerleading event to take place. Concerns have been raised following the move, which will see the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) – which has capacity to vaccinate 9,000 people a week – temporarily pause its vaccination programme to allow the Future Cheer International Cheerleading Competition to take place at the beginning of July. Dorset Healthcare, which runs the vaccination service, insists people will be able to receive their vaccinations at other sites while the clinic at the BIC pauses. However, one source close to the BIC vaccination programme told the Echo they had concerns Covid jab progress could be set back by the month-long hiatus.

The show must go on! Theatre s celebrate reopening next week

From Monday cinemas, museums, theatres and concert halls will be allowed to reopen although there will be capacity limits on large events. Venues will be able to open with social distancing, with capacities capped at 50 per-cent or 1,000 people for indoor shows, and 50 per-cent or 4,000 people outdoors. Elizabeth Symmons, corporate communications and marketing manager for BHLive said:  The news that we can reopen theatres for events is very welcome indeed. We can’t wait to see customers and colleagues enjoying live shows, entertainment and culture once more. The Circus of Horrors 25th Anniversary will be visiting next month.
