Private sector in Brunei the engine of growth: minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The private sector is the engine of growth while the public sector acts as the facilitator in generating a conducive environment in promoting and supporting investment in the private sector. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Dr Abdul Manaf Metussin during a ceremony to appoint nine new heads of cluster and three members of Advisory Council of the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BD-BEBC) at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday. Dr Abdul Manaf also emphasised on the use of digital technology in business amid the current pandemic climate.

Vaccine donation proves strong Brunei-China ties

The donation reflects the ties between the leaders of the two countries, said Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong on Sunday (Feb 28). “The donation of the Sinopharm vaccine shows the strong long-term friendship and mutual trust between both countries and that China is a true friend, ” she said during the Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association’s Chinese New Year celebration at the association’s building in Jalan Berakas.

Brunei and four Asean members sign MoU on formation of quantity surveyors body

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei on Thursday (Feb 25) marked yet another milestone by joining four Asean counterparts to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the formation of the Asean Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA) via a virtual platform. The signing, which took place at the Ministry of Development (MoD) building, was witnessed by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Law) at the MoD Norhayati Mohd Yaakub and PUJA Brunei President Mohamad Zin Salleh. Also in attendance were AQSA Panel of Advisor Mohammad Hanafi Abdul Rahman and AQSA Committee members Mohammad Shafie Mohammad Yusof and Hazhatulshima Md Jamil, as well as PUJA Council members.
