Jared Polis and a group of bipartisan state officials are urging Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to reconsider and pause former President Donald Trump s decision to move U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs to Alabama, saying it will undermine the country s ability to respond to national security threats in space. The U.S. Air Force last month announced that Space Command s headquarters would be officially moved to Huntsville, Ala. s, Redstone Arsenal after an intense lobbying battle between six finalists which included Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Dianne Primavera (D), Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers (R), and more than a dozen state legislators urged Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin The politicians “respectfully request that you pause the move” of the command responsible for America’s military space forces so that Austin “may conduct a thorough review of the previous administration’s last-minute decision” to move it from Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. ADVERTISEMENT “Without a review, this hasty decision will undermine our country’s ability to respond to national security threats in space. We have concerns about the transparency, impartiality, and bias of the process that the previous administration used when coming to a final decision that should be addressed prior to any final decision on permanent basing,” they write in Feb. 1 letter.

San Antonio police searching for 2 men on bicycles in copper theft on SW Side Incident occurred around 5 a.m. in 400 block of Citrus Ave. Updated:  Tags:  SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police say two men on bicycles are the subjects of a search on the city’s Southwest Side early Monday morning. SAPD said the pair broke into a building in the 400 block of Citrus Avenue near Port San Antonio and stole a couple loads of copper wiring around 5 a.m. Police said the copper wire was located in barrels and that they did not take it out of any of the machines or equipment. A monetary value of the theft was not given.

THE TOPLINE: The Army will make major changes to its hair and grooming policy, including allowing long ponytails, buzz cuts, earrings, lipstick and nail polish for women in uniform, in a push to be more inclusive, service officials revealed Tuesday. The changes  which are expected to be dictated in an Army memo between Feb. 25 and 26  are based on recommendations made in December by a diverse panel made up of Army leaders across the service, the majority of whom were women.
