Family members of the men alerted police early on Sunday after they failed to return to Bellambi, having set off for a fishing trip at 2pm the previous day. An extensive air and sea search was launched, and located the overturned boat off the coast of Port Kembla on Sunday afternoon. One body was discovered off Bellambi Point, while two others were found in the overturned boat, a police spokeswoman said.

Relatives raised the alarm about 6am on Sunday after the trio set off from the Bellambi boat ramp in Wollongong about 2pm the previous day. New South Wales records 35 new cases of Covid as the state hits halfway point of lockdown

New South Wales has recorded 35 new Covid cases on Saturday as the Bondi cluster grows to 261. Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the cases in a press conference on Saturday morning after 56,331 people were tested. The 35 new cases are the highest number of infections recorded in a single day since the initial outbreak in 2020 but the premier and her Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the green shoots are there . We are relieved, the cases are not as bad as they could have been, Ms Berejiklian said.   Greater Sydney remains in lockdown until Friday but there are still fears it will be extended as sewage testing shows the virus is in south-west and western Sydney despite no known cases being recorded there.

2,332,960 Of today’s 35 new locally acquired cases, 23 were in isolation throughout their infectious periods. A further three cases were in isolation for part of their infectious periods. Nine cases were infectious in the community. NSW Health identified a student nurse tested positive on the evening of Tuesday June 29. This case was announced on Wednesday as she had worked whilst infectious at Fairfield and RNSH. Testing of close contacts of this case identified an additional eight cases across 3 linked households. Of those cases, five worked in aged care and healthcare, two had worked at Summit Care Baulkham Hills while infectious, one worked at Royal North Shore Hospital, Royal Ryde Rehab hospital and Fairfield Hospital whilst infectious. The others had not worked whilst infectious.
