As Pfizer prepares to ship COVID-19 vaccine, Michigan manufacturing plant takes center stage

PORTAGE, MI Leaders across Southwest Michigan are praising Pfizer’s success in developing a vaccine aimed at ending the coronavirus pandemic as trucks carrying the medicine prepare to leave its massive Portage facility.
Elected officials in the area described to MLive a sense of community pride in having national attention this week on the global company’s plant in Kalamazoo County.
Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is on the cusp of being made available to Americans. A panel of the Federal Food and Drug Administration was reviewing it and set to vote on approving the vaccine for emergency use authorization at a meeting Thursday.
