Assam received the second consignment of Covid vaccine on Wednesday. The second consignment of 36,000 doses of the vaccine from Bharat Biotech arrived at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Borjhar in Guwahati, on Wednesday morning.

GUWAHATI: Dispur s fresh move to receive tenders to operate flights between Guwahati and six international destinations has raised eyebrows with many questioning the rationale behind it in the time of the global pandemic. The Guwahati-Dhaka flight service was suspended by SpiceJet in September, 2019. The Nok Air the Thailand-based low-cost airline suspended its operations from Guwahati to Bangkok from January 20, 2020. Very low passengers load had forced the flight operators to suspend their operations. Majority of the leading international flights operators are very much apprehensive about the viability of their operations on the routes between Guwahati and other international destinations.

GUWAHATI: The cost of Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) from Assam and the other north-eastern States will be the highest in the country from 2021.
According to the recent circular issued by the Haj Committee of India,the approximate cost of Haj from Guwahati (as the embarkation point) will be Rs 3,99,273.40. Before the Centre lifted the Haj subsidy, the pilgrimage cost was between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh.
