UPDATE: 16-year old Rachel Mac advanced to tonight’s first live show by beating one of the top singers in the competition in last week’s third round known as the Knockouts. Mac, who is a high school student from Romeo in Metro Detroit, performed “Foolish Games” by Jewel.

Tonight, 34-year old Zania Alaké takes the stage during the first live shows of the season on “The Voice.” UPDATE: Alaké was born and raised in Detroit and still lives there. She went to Wayne State University for music, but has been working as a banker for the last 10 years. She’s a single mother of a 3-year old and a 2-year old and says she hopes to give up her day job and sing for a living after her journey on the show ends.
