Woman granted absolute discharge body of baby girl found in Portsmouth A WOMAN has been granted an an absolute discharge after admitting the concealment of the birth of a child. Lisa Blagden, 21, from Portsmouth admitted the concealment of the birth of a child between December 27, 2019, and January 25, 2020. It follows the discovery of a new-born baby girl’s body in Portsmouth in January 2020. Three women from Portsmouth, now aged 21, 22, and 40, were initially arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder as part of an investigation into the death. The arrests followed the discovery of the baby’s body at the junction of Victoria Street and Old Commercial Road on the morning of January 25, 2020.

Bishop s Waltham woman accused of stealing Christmas tree

Eileen Hughes has been charged in connection with a spate of thefts across Hampshire. The 49-year-old is alleged to have stolen a miniature Christmas tree from Knowle Avenue in Knowle and a pair of shoes from a driveway on Gosport Road in Lee-on-the-Solent. Hughes, of Blanchard Road, is also accused of stealing car batteries from a garden in Portchester Road, Fareham, and copper and lead from a garden in Cottes Way, Fareham. The charges relate to incidents between December 8, 2020 and January 24 this year. She is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on May 17.

Teen arrested after man waved knife at car at traffic lights

Officers investigating a number of burglaries in Portsmouth have arrested a man on suspicion of several offences. The 18-year-old from Winchester was arrested yesterday (January 20) on suspicion of two aggravated burglaries, dwelling burglary with intent to steal, theft, possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place, two threats to kill, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.  The arrest comes following a string of aggressive offences that took place within the last month. On December 16, a man pulled up next to another car at traffic lights on Fratton Road and made threatening gestures with a knife at around 9.20pm. He also swerved into the victim’s car, causing damage to the front of the vehicle.
