Suspect sought in series of small arson fires in Boise
Police say the man tried to light three dumpsters on fire and a privacy cloth on a fence early Monday morning.

BOISE, Idaho Investigators in Boise are seeking help finding the person believed to be responsible for setting a series of small arson fires early Monday morning.
Boise Police and Boise Fire responded around 2:40 a.m. to a dumpster fire near 560 W. Main Street. Then, within about 20 minutes, they responded to three more fires nearby.
Each fire was quickly put out either by Boise firefighters or police officers with fire extinguishers from their vehicle.

No one expects a middle schooler to have their career already picked out but It s never too early to start thinking about the future and it s never too early to dream. The Idaho Department of Idaho shared an opportunity for Idaho students to learn about career options available in Idaho and beyond.
THINK Careers is an interactive virtual career exploration event for Idaho students ages 13 and older. It s sponsored by GEAR UP Idaho and Junior Achievement of Idaho and is an entirely free event.
On February 11th, there will be over 90 virtual company booths that will be available to publicly chat and answer questions for inquiring students. Local companies such as Idaho Power, Keller Williams Reality, City of Boise Fire and Police, Cowgirls Catering, and much more will be present. There s also national companies and agencies participating in the event like Google, Tesla, and even the FBI.

GIG HARBOR, WA Gig Harbor has chosen its next Fire Chief.
Dennis Doan, the former Fire Chief for the Boise Fire Department, will be the next man to lead Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One. According to the fire department, Doan served Boise Fire for 29 years, 12 as its Fire Chief. He also founded and helmed the Southwest Idaho Fire & EMS Chiefs Association.
Gig Harbor Fire had previously narrowed the field of Fire Chief candidates to just three: Doan, Dan Bjurstrom and Todd Meyer. Both Bjurstrom and Meyer currently work for Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One: Bjurstrom is the department s Assistant Chief of Finance and Administration, Meyer is the Assistant Chief of Operations.
In addition, there were no working smoke detectors inside the house.
According to the Boise Fire Department, the fire burned along the backside of the house and into the attic. We had some extensive damage to some buildings on the backside of this residence and also we had an exposure problem with the advanced fire conditions, he said. Crews did an incredible job with getting that fire contained to the structure itself that originally started on fire, and no extension to the side houses on either side. Crews worked very aggressively to get this fire out, Theriot said. This time of night, the fire kind of has a little bit of a head start, because it was reported late. That s always a challenge right off the bat, but again, Boise Fire has some outstanding people with some great training and they did exactly what they were supposed to do - put the fire out and try to save victims.
