Synopsis:

Monday May 10th 2021 at about 6:24 p.m., the Curry County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a 911 call from 21-year-old David Bowen, stating that he had fallen off about a 100-foot cliff, landed on a rock and had a broken leg.
Bowen stated that he and his friend, Elric Mack, both visiting from Boise Idaho were at the bottom of Nellies Cove in Port Orford next to the water’s edge.

Melvin Ray Shangle, 82, passed away on May 7, 2021 at his home in Boise with his wife and sons by his side. He was born in Mountain Home Idaho on August 27, 1936. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Architecture in 1962. He married to Ann Fowler Schultess on March 10, 1961. They resided in Boulder Colorado, Butte Montana, Salt Lake City Utah, San Jose California, and settled in San Diego California. They moved back to Boise Idaho in 1991. They had three children Teresa, Clifford, and Alan.
Mel was a building designer for One Hour Martinizing. He was an entrepreneur developing an injection molding process manufacturing tools. He also held various trades in order to provide for his family. He was a devout Christian and involved with his local Churches. He was a mentor and counselor for married couples in Marriage Encounter.
