New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced $4.6 million in grant funding is available to support projects related to economic development and infrastructure in the state’s northern border region.
The area encompasses counties that touch Vermont, Massachusetts, Canada, Pennsylvania and Lake Ontario.
Competitive funding is available for qualified projects within New York’s 28 federally designated Northern Border Regional Commission counties. Local government agencies and nonprofit organizations within these counties also are eligible to apply for these grants.

Connecticut Plan Outlines Strategies for Connected, Automated Vehicles

Autonomous delivery services and the challenges they present are included as a consideration in the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s recently released strategic plan for connected and automated vehicles.
The plan, titled “Preparing for Connected and Automated Vehicles,” is the first of its kind for Connecticut. It outlines strategies for advancing multimodal CAV services and infrastructure to address current and future transportation needs.
The text of the plan notes that many freight companies have expressed interest in or have tested autonomous trucks, and indicates CTDOT will maintain an open dialogue with industry representatives and monitor potential risks linked to autonomous deliveries. by Roger Gilroy (Transport Topics) Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced it finalized a joint venture with BP Products North America Inc., a subsidiary of BP, to develop, own and operate new renewable natural gas projects at dairies and other agriculture facilities.
Each company will retain 50% voting control in the joint venture, which will be initially funded with $50 million previously provided by BP and another $30 million from Clean Energy.
The joint venture anticipates adding preferred stock and debt to increase committed investment capital, according to Clean Energy. It is based in Newport Beach, Calif., and will be the operating partner. READ MORE
