St Croix refinery resumes operating following full plant outage -sources

Shipping data reviewed by Reuters indicates that the refinery is producing vacuum gas oil and ultra-low-sulfur diesel. Canadian National notifies U S regulator of its plan to buy Kansas City Southern

By Reuters Staff 1 Min Read April 21 (Reuters) - Canadian National said on Wednesday it had notified the U.S. Surface Transportation Board of its intent to buy Kansas City Southern after it made an unsolicited $30 billion bid for the U.S. railroad. Canadian National had informed the STB, which oversees freight rail service and rates in the United States, that it plans to file an application, seeking permission to combine with Kansas City Southern, the company said. The notice commences a regulatory process should Kansas City Southern accept Canadian National’s offer, it added. The company’s offer trumps a $25 billion bid made by rival Canadian Pacific for Kansas City Southern in March.

BHP completes its first refuelling of a ship with biofuel

A biofuel blend derived from certified sustainable feedstock sources such as cooking oil, crude tall oil and sewage sludge was used on April 4 to refuel the 81,000 deadweight tonne dry bulk carrier Kira Oldendorff which was on its way from Australia to Europe.

The world’s top crude oil buyer imported 49.66 million tonnes last month, equivalent to 11.69 million barrels per day (bpd), data from the General Administration of Customs showed on Tuesday. March imports were down from 11.73 million bpd in February. For the first quarter, arrivals totalled 139.23 million tonnes, or 11.29 million bpd. That compared to 10.2 million bpd over the same period a year earlier.
