While the topic of lead-footed drivers – and the speed limit in the Beachville area – is starting to accelerate around the county table, it’s going to remain as is for the time being.
Oxford County councillors voted to maintain speed limits at either edge of the South-West Oxford Township hamlet at 80 kilometres per hour while keeping the 50 km/h limit in its residential area. The county and Oxford provincial police will instead conduct a minimum of three week-long trials in different areas of Beachville to garner additional data on drivers’ habits and the effectiveness of speed-management measures.
