In a tweet this morning, Travel Dorset said: The pothole which @HighwaysSWEST repaired yesterday, later re-emerged as a sinkhole. In an upate at around 8.30am on Wednesday, TravelDorset said the westbound carriageway will remain closed at least for today. Contractors will be meeting this morning to discuss plans for carriageway reconstruction; and traffic management.

The A35 westbound is closed at the Troytown junction due to a sink hole. The road is expected to be closed overnight and diversions are in place - motorists are asked to use alternative routes. It follows emergency repairs to a pothole in the road that have been ongoing since this morning.

#TravelDorsetAlert: A35 westbound CLOSED between Puddletown and Stinsford due to emergency repairs.
The incident occurred between Junction 19 and Junction 18. Emergency services were called to the scene. It caused delays of over 45 minutes and four miles of congestion southbound.

The northbound carriageway is now back open and two lanes of the soundbound carriageway are also now set to reopen but lanes three and four remain closed.
