Pervis Staples, a co-founding member of the legendary gospel group the Staple Singers, died May 6th at his home in Dolton, Illinois. He was 85.
Staples’ death was announced May 12th, with Adam Ayers, a member of Mavis Staples’ management team, confirming his death. A cause was not given. Funeral services will be held on May 17th in Chicago.
Mavis Staples said in a statement, “Pervis was one of a kind comical and downright fly. He would want to be remembered as an upright man, always willing to help and encourage others. He was one of the good guys and will live on as a true Chicago legend.”

On Wednesday, a federal judge threw out the moratorium on evictions. I am sure that it will be reinstated soon. It has to be. Because when it ends the devastation will be incredible. It is this moratorium, and the one on foreclosures, that have made the current overheated market resulting in the highest prices ever In real estate for both buying and renting. And despite what you read on GoLocal and almost everywhere else. It will not last. It will crash hard and painfully to the whole country.
I know of the historical interest rates, but those cannot be maintained in the light of inflationary pressures. I know there are billions going to help distressed people. It will not be enough. When you fall behind in both rentals and foreclosures, the fees in all such contracts are a ruinous insult to injury that in the best of times make it incredibly hard to dig out.

Today Bob Dylan turns 70 years old, and we air a special program on his life and music. Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. Raised in Hibbing, Minnesota, he moved to Greenwich Village in January of 1961.
