On May 3, the singer-songwriter, considered to be an early pioneer for rock n roll, died at an extended-care center in New Rochelle, New York, Personality: The Lloyd Price Musical, told the Times that the cause of his death was complications of diabetes. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, the singer was best known for his hit Personality, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts in 1959. And of course, there’s a sequence recalling moments from “Evita” itself. It’s a show that might never have come together had Asolo Rep not reinvented itself during the pandemic by building its outdoor Terrace Stage. It has presented five concert and theater programs to large, socially distanced and masked crowds since December while the indoor theater remains closed.

Broadway actor Eliseo RomÃ¡n has taken on a new challenge, but with artistic material thatâs very familiar, and close to his heart. Itâs also quite a homecoming. RomÃ¡n is directing âOn Your Feet!,â the musical about the lives and careers of singers Gloria and Emilio Estefan, for Prather Productions, in whose shows the Lancaster native performed when he was moving from his former career into performing full time. The show, in which RomÃ¡n portrayed Gloria Estefanâs father on Broadway from 2015-17, opens Thursday at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster after a run at the Prather familyâs Broadway Dinner Theatre in Florida.
