10 potential candidates for Oregon Ducks defensive coordinator

EUGENE Andy Avalos’ departure to Boise State leaves Oregon searching for its third defensive coordinator in four years under Mario Cristobal and fifth in seven years.
Below is a rundown of 10 potential candidates to be Oregon’s next defensive coordinator, listed alphabetically. This is not an all-encompassing list, as the position naturally generates a lot of interest from coaches of varying degrees of experience.

News has continued to emerge about potential candidates to fill new Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian’s staff in Austin less than a day after Sarkisian was officially announced as the program’s 31st head coach. Here’s a running list of updates on staff changes and expected staff changes.

ALLEN PARK Most coaching staffs go through some change every offseason. That’s especially true when you lose, and the Detroit Lions lost a lot.

Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that Detroit Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley will interview for a job with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he may not be the only Lions coach that has drawn interest elsewhere.
According to 24/7 Sports, defensive line coach Bo Davis is expected to take the same position with the University of Texas under new head coach Steve Sarkisian. It’s a logical hire for Sarkisian, seeing as they both come from Alabama roots, and Davis held the Texas DL job back in 2011-13.
Given that Davis was very much a Matt Patricia guy, it’s not surprising to see him move on from his time in Detroit. And given that the Lions’ defense finished with some historically bad numbers, it may be best for them to do a full reset with the defensive coaching staff.
