This year may look a little different as the competition is virtual. Nonetheless, six students will compete to become state champion. ...................... The six finalists – Vanessa Sosa of Arrowhead Park Early College High School in Las Cruces, Analisa Ibarra of La Cueva High School, Barbara Akin of Los Lunas High School, Zoe Sloan Callan of the Native American Community Academy, Michelle Montez of Taos High School and Jenna Tulonen of Volcano Vista High School – earned their shot after competing at the classroom level.

2021 Wyoming Poetry Out Loud State Champion announced

Jones won the title after competing and winning at the classroom and schoolwide levels. The 16 thannual Poetry Out Loud statewide competition was held virtually. Advertisement Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow, virtually recognized Jones in a prerecorded announcement. A link to the virtual awards ceremony, which features video clips of Wyoming high school finalists’ recitations can be viewed below. More than 500 students participated in Poetry Out Loud across the state, with 13 high schools registering a team and 11 of those schools advancing a school champion to the state finals. The first runner-up was Jade Hefenieder from Worland High School. Telsie Comer from Sundance Secondary was third place winner.

How to Enter Poetry Competition For Treasure Valley High School Students The Boise Public Library is hosting an event and an awesome opportunity for young poetry lovers and performers called Poetry Out Loud. Poetry Out Loud is a poetry recitation competition for high school students. The program is intended to help  students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. First, there will be a local competition round that will be completely virtual. One representative will then advance to the Idaho State Championship for a chance to win not only a cash prize, but also the opportunity to compete at the National Championship! The Poetry Out Loud National Finals was previously planned to be hosted in Washington D.C., but will be held virtually as well instead.
