When the members council could not arrive at the 75 percent that was needed for the facilitation of a majority independent board, Mthethwa s hand was forced. CSA now stands on the brink of being de-recognised as a federation, which means they ll lose their place at the ICC table. And so, Cricket South Africa has finally arrived at the horrible destination they so wished to avoid, that of having their national colours and recognition stripped by Sports, Arts, and Culture minister Nathi Mthethwa.

In the letter, personnel note that stripping CSA of its status would destroy livelihoods and bring the local game s activities to a halt. Their overriding wish is for the interim board, members council and Mthethwa to continue negotiating on the controversial new Memorandum of Incorporation.  Embattled Cricket South Africa s (CSA) operational staff have put up a united front in launching a written plea to Sports, Arts and Culture minister Nathi Mthethwa to reconsider his decision to strip the federation as the official local governing body for cricket in the country, stating it will destroy livelihoods.

Mthethwa will use the National Sports and Recreation Act to step in, which gives him the right to – amongst other things – withdraw funding and no longer officially recognise CSA as the governing body of cricket.”
