Speaking at Wilmington Delaware after the Electoral College had officially given him enough votes to be declared President, Democratic candidate Joe Biden said that American democracy had been tested and had proved to be strong. He described at length the Trump campaign’ s legal challenges to the November 3 presidential election results and criticised Republican lawmakers and officials who had joined a Texas lawsuit to overturn the results of the vote in key battleground states that he had won.
Indian Navyâs Indigenous Project 17A Frigate Himgiri Makes First Contact With Water

âHimgiriâ, the first of the three Project 17A ships being built at Kolkataâs Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), made her first contact with the waters of Hoogly River on Monday.
Project 17A has upheld Indiaâs vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat. P17A ships have been indigenously designed by Directorate of Naval Design (Surface Ship Design Group) â DND (SSG), and are being built at indigenous yards namely Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and GRSE.
General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) was the Chief Guest at the ceremony. In keeping with Naval traditions Smt Madhulika Rawat, spouse of CDS, launched the ship to the chanting of invocations from the Atharva Veda. The ship has taken its name and crest of the second Frigate of the Leander Class of ships, which incidentally was launched 50 years ago in 1970.

The first of three stealth frigates, Himgiri, built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) under Project 17A for the navy, launched into water at Garden Reach on Monday .

The ship was launched by Madhulika Rawat, wife of General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence Staff, who was the chief guest for the occasion. “China’s attempt to change the status quo on Line of Actual Control along the northern border during the Covid-19 pandemic necessitates high-level preparation on land, sea and air. I am fully confident that Indian Armed Forces will leave no stone unturned to safeguard our frontiers,” Rawat said.

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat on Monday said that India is fully prepared for any eventuality that it may be faced with.
Speaking at the launch of the first project 17-A Frigate Warship from GRSE Yard in Kolkata, Rawat added that every nation will continue to prepare for ensuring its security based on their strategic interest.
