Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has inaugurated a steering committee to supervise the implementation of the World Bank-funded COVID-19 Action Economic Stimulus Program for Result (NG-CARES).
Speaking during the inauguration of the committee at Little Rayfield Government House Jos, the Governor said the programme was being financed by the World Bank adding that it has fulfilled the requirements to access to $20 million dollars (over 8 billion naira) from the $750 million dollars granted to the Federal Government to address the negative consequences of COVID-19 on our economy.

A bill to stop the payment of pension to former governors and their deputies in Lagos State has passed the second reading in the Lagos House of Assembly.
The bill was submitted to the House of Assembly on November 20, 2020, by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor.
With the bill, Mr Sanwo-Olu seeks an amendment to the Payment of Pension Law (2017), a move to stop huge amounts paid to former governors and their deputies.
The second reading of the bill held on Monday and was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa.

At least 24 states across Nigeria enacted laws providing generous pensions to their former governors and their deputies.

WILMINGTON The Wilmington College Board of Trustees welcomed three new members at its April meeting Christen Clougherty, David Raizk and Taylor Stuckert.
Clougherty, of Savannah, Ga., is the founder and executive director of the Nobis Project, a non-profit, educational support organization that focuses on developing educators’ capacity to foster reciprocal and meaningful community partnerships, build culturally responsive classrooms and promote a social justice approach to global service learning.
She received her Ph.D. in Quaker studies from England’s University of Birmingham. She has more than 20 years of experience as an educator and administrator in community organizations, K-12 public, charter and independent schools, and colleges and universities.

Stakeholders call for upgrade of infrastructure, others at Warri rebirth

Stakeholders from within and outside Delta State, have called for urgent need to upgrade and build new infrastructures in Warri, to attract economic development to the area.
The stakeholders who recently came together to brainstorm on the possibility of restoring Warri to its former socio-economic life, also called for full implementation of the Local Content laws.
The online zoom event tagged, ‘Why Not Warri’, organized by Comrade Rex Anighoro, witnessed intense deliberations and exchange of opinions and ideas for the rebirth of the city.
