Public Attorney’s Office
The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) expressed apprehension over the possible dismissal of over 4,000 government executives due to a recent Supreme Court’s (SC) division ruling that affirmed the directive of the Career Executive Service Board (CESB).
In an online press conference on Monday, May 10, PAO Chief Persida V. Rueda-Acosta vowed to appeal the SC’s ruling against dismissed Dangerous Drugs Board (DBB) Deputy Executive Director Maria Belen Angelita V. Matibag.
Acosta said Matibag was removed from DBB in 2011 based on the 2010 memorandum circular of then President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III who ordered the removal of non-Career Executive Service Officials (CESOs) occupying Career Executive Service (CES) positions.
Cops should heed Eleazar s no-jail order
Any rush to arrest mandatory mask violators without setting up the holding and booking infrastructure would worsen jail congestion and the clogging of court dockets, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said today.
Recto said violators will be first brought to holding cells in police precincts, but then these are already full.
Violators remanded to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facilities will also find standing room only conditions awaiting them.
And with many prosecution offices and courts conducting some of their work online, the procedure violators will undergo will face delays, Recto warned.

PAO Chief Persida Rueda Acosta
Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida V. Rueda-Acosta reminded the public not to fall prey to another fake social media account using her name and soliciting money contributions.
In her Facebook account, Acosta identified the fake account as “https://www.facebook.com/paolawyer.acosta.”
Last month, she said, a bogus account https://www.facebook.com/paoprecida.acosta has surfaced. “This fake account was used to defraud and victimize innocent ones,” she added.
She stressed that once identified and arrested she will pursue criminal charges against those involved in the fake accounts.
