KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Kansas City, Missouri, Public Schools students and staff could be required to wear masks at school, regardless of vaccination status.
Sara Williams, the district s COVID-19 response coordinator, made the recommendation Wednesday night at the Board of Educationâs meeting, but no votes were expected on the issue. Right now weâre looking very closely at whatâs happening in our community with the delta variant and also just whatâs going on in other school districts around us, Williams said.
Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education on Monday welcomed newly hired staff members to the district.
Andrea Barry, seventh-grade science, Sturgis Middle School. Barry has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University with minors in psychology and sociology. She completed her teacher certification program from Eastern Michigan University with a major in elementary provisional, K-8, and minors in language arts and science. Barry taught language arts for two years at American International School Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. She previously taught in Marshall and Lincoln City, Ore.
Katie Bir, first grade, Wall Elementary. Bir graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor in Education Studies and a Master in Business Administration. Most recently, she was a long-term substitute teacher at Wall. Bir was an intelligence analyst for National Security Agency, U.S. Air Force.

Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education on Monday approved several purchases for the district.
Two bids were received for milk for school meals. The district chose to stay with Cedar Crest Dairy, due to price and availability.
The district received four bids to replace the 27-year-old dishwasher at Eastwood Elementary and went with Stafford-Smith with a booster heater for $44,946.
The district received six bids for wireless document cameras to be placed in all classrooms throughout the district. The district chose Precision Data Products for $82,460, which was the second-lowest bid, however they would be able to ship all units sooner.
