Donovan presented and unanimously passed Senate Joint Resolution 21-023 Friday to recognize this year s observance.
âItâs easy to take the beauty that surrounds us for granted â carving out this day reminds us of how lucky we are to live in this incredible state, but also that we have a responsibility to make sure that beauty is sustained for generations to come,â Donovan said in a statement.

May 15 marks the fifth annual Colorado Public Lands Day. In May of 2016, Colorado became the first state in the nation to establish a state holiday for our public lands. Colorado Public Lands Day is an opportunity to celebrate public lands, which are central to our economy and our quality of life.
