No more cases of the Indian coronavirus variant have been discovered in Suffolk since Friday, public health teams have confirmed.
The B16172 variant was first identified in India and is believed to be linked to the country s second wave, where thousands of people have lost their lives.
With Covid restrictions easing today (Monday, May 17) and social contact allowed with friends and relatives, MPs Dr Dan Poulter and Tom Hunt are urging people to use common sense and not reverse Suffolk s progress.
Every other area recorded five infections or below.
A total of 114 areas, which have a combined population of more than 800,000, recorded three or fewer cases. Once cases drop below three, the government no longer publishes the exact number of new infections.
It includes swathes of north Essex, west Suffolk and Ipswich.
The low case numbers are being put down to the success of the vaccine rollout.
But health bosses told a Local Outbreak Engagement Board meeting last week that recent outbreaks, such as the one at Ipswich Hospital, should serve as a reminder of the speed at which Covid still moves.

Just under 100 positive Covid-19 cases have been identified from more than 400,000 rapid coronavirus tests of school staff, pupils and their family members, according to latest data.
Public Health Suffolk has reported that around 50,000 tests are being carried out per week by family members of school-age children, and that between March 2 and April 23 there were 97 positive cases identified from 409,064 lateral flow device (LFD) tests of pupils, school staff and families.
Stuart Keeble, director of public health in Suffolk, said: “All cases picked up by LFD tests are highly likely to have been asymptomatic, and therefore they would have been unaware they are carrying or transmitting the virus.

Social distancing, face masks and regular hand washing were still needed to combat the spread of Covid-19 in Suffolk

The recent Covid-19 outbreak at Ipswich Hospital must be a wake-up call for people to continue observing social distancing, health leaders have warned.
Ipswich Hospital last week confirmed an outbreak of the virus a fortnight ago saw cases among inpatients climb from three to 29 in just 48 hours, and hit 54 at its peak.
Those numbers have since come down and no patients were in intensive care, but the hospital took swift action to instigate an independent review of practices. That has resulted in strict daily audits taking place to ensure guidelines over facemasks and social distancing are being upheld.
