Express / R.Satish babu Express News Service CHENNAI: Chennai’s daily test positive rate of Covid-19 has declined from 26% on May 10 to 21.1% on May 16. This shows that about 21 out of 100 people tested are now becoming positive.  While the city conducted close to 30,000 tests daily during the period, the daily cases too reduced from 7,149 on May 10 to 6,150 on May 17. This indicates that the spread in the city is gradually on a decline.

In a coronavirus update Tuesday, Public Health announced there had been no new deaths among healthcare workers in Los Angeles County, who began receiving vaccinations in December 2020, in three weeks. Washoe health officer supports mandatory COVID vaccines for students

Washoe County Health District Officer Kevin Dick supports requiring COVID-19 vaccines for K-12 students once the immunizations receive full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  Dick said he was also in support of plans to require the vaccines of University of Nevada, Reno, and Truckee Meadows Community College students as soon as the fall semester.  The Nevada System of Higher Education announced last week it was drafting plans to make it mandatory once the drugs were approved for full use.
