This weekend has been jam packed with great matchups, tight thrillers, and double headers and it’s only Saturday!  While it’s easy to focus your game watching on popular conferences like the ACC and the Big Ten, there were some really special Saturday matchups that should not go unnoticed. If you’re not watching lacrosse on every screen in the house, you are missing out on some awesome lacrosse. Here are my Saturday takeaways:

But this was just the start.  Florida lined up on DB Milne Field Saturday against the unranked Jacksonville Dolphins with both teams eager to keep their win streaks alive. The Gators ran out of the locker room with their roster full of all-American threats. The Dolphins’ physicality gave UF a run for their money in a 12-11 match.

Florida drowns Stetson 19-7 - The Independent Florida Alligator

Florida drowns Stetson 19-7 Shannon Kavanagh With about five minutes remaining in the first half, the Gators made it clear they meant business as midfielder Shelton Sawers ripped one past Stetson’s goalkeeper to put them in the double digits. Then, Florida prevailed in the eye of the storm.  The No. 6 Gators withstood the rain as they lined up at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand, Florida, to face the unranked Stetson Hatters.  Stetson challenged Florida in the draw circle and won 12 out of 27 draws. Although Stetson made its mark on the scoreboard, an hour flew by as Florida emerged victorious 19-7.
