There is confusion surrounding fresh allegations against a North Coast man charged over serious assaults, a court has heard.
Nicholas Stafford Sharp, 39, from Ocean Shores, faced Byron Bay Local Court on Monday.
Mr Sharp has not lodged formal pleas to any of the charges against him.
But the court heard there was some confusion about the state of the allegations.
Magistrate Karen Stafford said only two allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm were before her.
But a total of six charges, all relating to an alleged January 10 incident in Byron Bay, were listed elsewhere.
Defence solicitor Ian McKay told the court ânew chargesâ had been handed to him.

A Queensland man facing serious assault charges over an alleged incident in Byron Bay will defend all allegations against him, a court has heard.
Solomon Christopher Burke, 21, from Carrara, pleaded not guilty to charges of reckless wounding, being armed with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm when the case against him went before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday.
Police will allege Mr Burke used a pair of broken scissors to wound Neerim Peters recklessly and assaulted Jakeb Osborne, occasioning actual bodily harm to him, in Byron Bay shortly after 5pm on November 11 last year.

Subscriber only A man has been charged with affray and assault after coward-punching a passer-by and attacking police in Byron Bay on the weekend. About 11.30pm on January 23, a 34-year-old man and an unknown woman were standing on the corner of Jonson and Bay Sts near the Quicksilver shop. The man was verbally abusive and threatening towards the victim, a male who was walking with two other people, minding their own business. The accused was attempting to fight with the victim, who did not become involved at any time. According to police, the victim and two other males attempted to move away from the accused and not engage in any violence.
