Pine Centre Mall to get a major grocery chain SHARE ON: UPDATE 12:20pm The Pine Centre Mall will have its first major grocery store since Extra Foods left Prince George about 15 years ago. Save-on-Foods confirmed to MyPGNow.com they are moving out of their Parkwood Place storefront and into the space vacated by Lowe’s. Lowe’s closed up shop in February of 2020 impacting the employment of 110 workers. Pine Centre Spokesperson, Jessica Brown spoke with MyPGNow.com. “We are going to be starting a redevelopment of Lowe’s space. Work is expected to begin in mid-2021 and should wrap up by 2022 and they will take over the Lowe’s space but we are going to be doing a redevelopment where there will be ample parking for guests.”

Hatchet wielder gets 36 days

A man who threatened a security guard with a hatchet during a robbery of a store at Pine Centre Mall was sentenced Wednesday to a further 36 days in jail. Kevin Corey Roy, 29, was issued the term on a count of uttering threats from the Feb. 2 incident. He was also sentenced to a concurrent term of six days in jail for possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and to one year probation on the counts as well as a count of theft $5,000 or under. article continues below
