Republican Joe Neunder running for open Sarasota County Commission seat

SARASOTA COUNTY After two years on the dais in the city of Venice, City Council member Dr. Joe Neunder has decided to run for what will be an open Sarasota County Commission District 4 seat next year.  The founder of Sarasota Spinal Mechanics, a chiropractic practice in Sarasota County, said in a news release that he wants to build upon the county s current momentum.  “Sarasota’s future is bright thanks to decades of conservative leadership at the county level,” Neunder said. “I’ll build on that legacy by keeping taxes low, protecting the natural beauty of the environment that surrounds us, supporting our brave law enforcement officers and first responders, and championing balanced, fiscally responsible budgets.”

Pineview students place in top 10 in international math competition | Sarasota

Once again, students from Pine View School finished ahead of most students their age in mathematics. A team of five students ended up in the top 10 teams nationwide in the MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge, which challenges students to use math modeling to solve a global issue. Each year, Pine View teacher Mark Mattia creates two teams of five students each to compete. “We’re taking the students that are highly intrinsically motivated,” Mattia said. “If they’re doing this, it’s not for the scholarships that they can receive. It’s because they’re interested in it. This is what they do.”

Westshore Junior/Senior High School - Melbourne, FL Westshore Junior and Senior High School comes in third, ranking #58 in the country. It has a 100% graduation rate, and caters to 610 students from 7th to 12th grade. 4. Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School - Miami, FL Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School ranks fourth on the list of Florida schools. With a smaller student body of 328, this charter school ranks #63 in the nation.
