With the region’s economy preparing to re-open on Friday, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce hosted an online session this week in partnership with the Porcupine Health Unit.
It was titled “Getting Your Business Ready to Re-open Safely” and provided Chamber members and stakeholders the opportunity to find out what will be expected of them in the coming days.

The PHU’s Dr. Lianne Catton opened the proceedings by stating she and her team are very empathetic to the stresses many business owners have experienced since the outset of the pandemic.

The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) reported 17 new COVID-19 cases within its catchment area on Wednesday.
Six of those cases are in Timmins and the other 11 are in the James Bay region.

The local health unit was also The PHU was notified by Public Health Ontario that a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Timmins for the Delta variant.
This is second Delta variant confirmed in the PHU area.
“The presence of this variant, which spreads even more easily than the B.1.1.7 (U.K.) variant is extremely worrisome,” the health unit stated in a release.
