LALAMUSA: Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa has said that non-formal schools have been opened at six kilns for the education of children of labourers in the district.
He said this while addressing a meeting of District Vigilance Committee here on Sunday. Deputy Director Labour Muhammad Usman gave a briefing to the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa said that he would personally approach the commissioner of Social Security for the appointment of specialist doctors in Social Security Hospital.
He informed that 90pc of the kilns had been shifted to the zigzag technology in Gujrat district. Cases had been registered against three businessmen for violating child labour laws, he told. Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar directed the Education Department that no child, including the children of kiln workers, should be barred from entering the school due to unavailability of Form-B.

Rawalpindi: The Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan (AKFP) and Punjab Baitul Maal have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to hold social welfare activities in the province.
Punjab Baitul Maal Chairman Malik Azam and Senior Vice President Syed Ehsanullah Waqas signed the MoU at a ceremony that was held at the Al-Khidmat Complex here.
Punjab Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Yawar Abbas Bokhari, Secretary General AKFP Khobaib Bilal, and General Manager Programmes Hammad Akhtar were also present on the occasion.
As per MoU, the two organizations will join hands to work for the welfare of widows, the disabled, women, and the poor segment of the society. In this connection, the AKFP and Punjab Baitul Maal will also distribute sewing machines among deserving women.

The Khyber Special Persons Welfare Organisation has announced boycott of the upcoming polio vaccination campaign and sit-in at Bab-e-Khyber. These announcements were made during a meeting of Khyber Special Persons Welfare Organisation headed by its president Hazratullah Afridi at Jamrud Press Club on Thursday. Differently abled persons from Khyber district attended the meeting in large number.
Participants of the meeting expressed grave concern over the attitude of Pakistan Baitul Mall with differently-abled persons. Other problems faced by differently-abled persons were also discussed and it was decided that a sit-in will be staged at Bab-e-Khyber against the attitude of Baitul Mal.
