A joint investigation has been launched into a network of drug traffickers who had transported their contraband via Cambodia after Hong Kong customs officials detained two people suspected of smuggling more than 51kg of methamphetamines from Cambodia by sea to the Port of Hong Kong on February 18.
Deputy National Police chief Mok Chito said he had not yet received information from Hong Kong anti-drug authorities about the suspects’ identities.
“For those arrested on site, they will be prosecuted there, but we also have to cooperate to get information from the Hong Kong side to see who else are involved and where they are now so that we can make arrests.

National police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk has ordered a probe into opposition claims during last week s censure debate that a police colonel and a police lieutenant general were involved in the smuggling attempt of 1.5 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine in Tak that was foiled on Oct 18, 2019, a source said yesterday.
Pol Gen Suwat assigned deputy national police chief Pol Gen Manu Mekmok in his capacity as chief of the National Command Centre for Combating Drugs (NCCD) and Pol Lt Gen Montri Yimyaem, chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB), to jointly lead the probe, the source said.

Police search out source of 500kg stash of ketamine

Minister of Interior Sar Kheng has instructed investigators to clearly identify the sources of drugs being trafficked to Cambodia in light of the recent case where nearly 500kg of ketamine was found on Koh Poulo Wai Island in Preah Sihanouk province’s Koh Rong Samloem commune.
Speaking at the ministry on February 9, he said more work must be done with a focus on identifying the international sources of drugs being trafficked from abroad.

More than 460 kg of illegal drugs were found and confiscated by naval forces of the Front Line Maritime Security Command in a forest on Koh Polowai in Koh Rong Sanloem commune of Preah Sihanouk province’s Koh Rong town.
Tea Sokha, deputy Navy commander and commander of the Front Line Command of the National Committee for Maritime Security (NCMS) General Secretariat, told The Post that the drugs were discovered and seized on the evening of February 6 during naval patrols.
