“I had asked for a meeting with my counterpart in the Republic of Ireland to discuss this, to see what we could do jointly with regard to messaging, but unfortunately I have been unable to secure that meeting with Stephen Donnelly yet.
“It was over a fortnight ago (that the meeting was requested), now he has encouraged our officials to meet – they do anyway, they meet regularly at chief medical officer level and our public health authority level.
“We have had a response back from Stephen unfortunately saying that he would encourage our officials to meet.

As I wait, drumming my fingers on the steering wheel, it occurs to me that I have no idea what MOT stands for. I run through some possibilities in my mind. Motor Of Trust? My Only Triumph? Masculine Or Timid? Man On Trial? Moment Of Terror? Mental Ordeal Today? Massive Octopus Tentacles? I make a note to Google it later on.
Mr Beattie became party leader today (Monday) just weeks after Stephen Aiken stepped down.
He was unopposed as the only candidate standing for the post and will be formally ratified as leader at the end of this month at the UUP party conference.
Upper Bann MP David Trimble, who won the Nobel Peace Prize with SDLP Leader John Hume for his work on the peace process in NI, previously held the post.

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following the attempted murder of a man on Saturday night in Belfast.
The victim, 51, was blasted in the chest by a gunman as he opened the door of a house.

The shooting incident took place at around 8.50pm on Saturday at an address in the Mount Vernon Park area of north Belfast.
Police say they believe a gunman got out of a black-coloured three-door Renault Clio, approached the house, and knocked on the front door.
