KABAMBE: Told to pay back K6.2billion
Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has told the Industrial Relations Court that instead of RBM paying Kabambe his K2.3 billion claim, the government agency has told the court that Kabambe is owing the RBM a total of K6.2billion.
It has been transpired through the Court documents that RBM is accusing Kabambe of supervising an irregular donation of K6.2 billion to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs towards the COVID-19 response in March last year while DPP was in government.
According to the defense, RBM is claiming the reimbursement of income unjustly earned by Kabambe as well as the sum of K6.2 billion being compensation for loss that the central bank incurred as a result towards COVID-19 response.
