REVEALED: Is your suburb the worst for crime in 2021?

REDBANK Plains has this week claimed the highly undesirable title of Ipswich’s worst suburb for crime for 2021. Just shy of three months into the year, the area has managed to surpass other suburbs for criminal behaviour. According to recent police data, 413 incidents occurred in the suburb over the past quarter – an average of about five per day. Several other suburbs across Ipswich have also recorded a total number of incidents into the triple figures. Goodna and Ipswich central both tied for an equal second place with 358 offences respectively. Meanwhile, North Ipswich rounded out the worst suburbs for crime this year, with more than 250 incidents taking place.

Truckie filmed abusing mum, teacher in school zone

Premium Content Subscriber only AN impatient truck driver who lost his temper with a mum in a school zone swore at and verbally abused her. An Ipswich court heard that the professional truck driver continually sounded his horn, used bad language and gave the mum and a primary school teacher the finger in a rude gesture. The trailer of Keith Stuart s truck scraped the mum s car when he squeezed past. But the quick thinking mum filmed his bad tempered antics on her mobile phone in the incident outside Karalee State School. Police followed up the complaint and charged Stuart with three offences.

Super Girl Goolagong Cawley celebrated in new play

The Sydney Town Hall has been transformed into a tennis court for a performance based on the remarkable story of revered sportswoman, Evonne Goolagong Cawley. Almost half a century since she won he first Grand Slam title, Sunshine Super Girl  depicts key moments in Ms Goolagong Cawley’s life, from her early days in the New South Wales regional town of Barellan to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The production was written and directed by Yorta Yorta and Gunaikurnai playwright Andrea James, a self described tennis tragic , who told NITV Radio it was the right time to pay tribute to her success.
