Mary Alice Simon has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Helius Therapeutics – New Zealand’s largest licenced medicinal cannabis company.
Ms Simon joins Helius with extensive experience in the pharmaceuticals industry – both in Operations and Quality Assurance. Most recently, she was Head of Operations – Healthcare at API Consumer Brands, following four years as Head of Quality overseeing API’s pharmaceutical and personal care manufacturing plants in Auckland.
Previously, she was Head of Quality Assurance at Diatranz Otsuka Limited – formerly Living Cell Technologies. She also spent five years as Director of Data Management and Process Improvement at Penobscot Community Health Care in the United States.

Walmart, Sam’s Club to offer vaccinations at 24 Maine locations
Mainers who are 70 and older were expected to be able to start making appointments online Tuesday night.

The 4,000-plus weekly doses for Walmart and Sam’s Club will be added to the 21,475 doses per week that Maine is receiving from the Biden administration.
Maine is ranked eighth in the nation for people who have received one or more doses, at 10.6% of the population.
The state’s seven-day average of new hospitalizations was 3.1 as of Tuesday, down from a peak of 18 in mid-December.

Despite COVID-19 Challenges Dental Therapy Had a Watershed 2020 and Is Poised to Grow

2020 was a difficult year for dental providers as the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the country. When stay-at-home orders went into effect in the spring, dental offices closed their doors to all but emergency patients. And, as a result of pandemic-related financial constraints, 22% of dental practices that participated in Medicaid either withdrew or considered withdrawing from the insurance program by the end of the year, according to the American Dental Association.
Despite these once-in-a-lifetime challenges, however, the field of dental therapy made important strides last year that lay the foundation for continued progress in 2021.
