Letter Circulating For Support Of Iowa Sheriff s And Deputies Is Legitimate | CBC Online

Calhoun County Sheriff, Patrick Riley, has been fielding questions lately concerning a recent letter distributed to residents. He assures all that a request for support of the Iowa State Sheriff’s and Deputies’ Association Institute (ISSDAI) is legitimate. He says his employees belong to this association and he allows them to use his name in their fundraising efforts. Not only does the ISSDAI provide training on dealing with violent crime, homeland security and more to local Sheriff’s Offices, they also support a YMCA camp and the Iowa Special Olympics. The letter asks residents to become honorary members for a $25 fee that will be used to support these efforts. The tax-deductible membership includes an identification card, window decal and bumper sticker along with a December 2021 honorary issue of their publication, “The Gold Star.” More information can be found at www.issda.org.
