A criminal complaint has been filed against an 18-year-old La Crosse man accused of driving a vehicle 100 mph through residential streets March 7 with a terrified passenger in La Crosse.

PHILADELPHIA - Fitness International LLC, the owner and operator of LA Fitness, faces civil charges in Philadelphia by a gym-goer who says he was assaulted at one of its facilities in December 2019.
According to documents filed in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas on March 4, plaintiff Alfred Holmes visited the gym on December 8, where he was allegedly assaulted and injured by another gym attendee, Patrick Peters.
The suit alleges that Peters was verbally and physically aggressive to the gym s customers before he assaulted the plaintiff, but LA Fitness failed to act on the man s hostility. Consequentially, the defendant is charged with negligence and carelessness in maintaining a safe facility for its customers.
Time has taken its toll on St. Paulâs Episcopal Church.
Built in 1885, the historical church building at 340 Locust St., Columbia, has weathered rain, snow and wind for over a century. Faced with a growing list of repairs and a lack of funds, the church is struggling to keep its doors open.
âThe most urgent structural repair needing to be done is the roof,â says the Rev. Patrick Peters, priest at St. Paulâs.
If something isnât done soon, he says, the building will need to be vacated due to safety concerns. He knows the roof protects the structure of the building and church artifacts as well as those who gather for worship. St. Paulâs leaking roof affects the interior as well as exterior of the building.
