The number of patients with Covid-19 at University Hospital Waterford has reached 111.
That’s according to the latest Daily Operations Update from the HSE.
UHW is one of 10 acute hospitals across the country with more than 100 patients.
The Waterford figure is almost double what it was a week ago when 56 patients were being treated at the facility.
The number of patients in critical care remains unchanged at 6.

The number of patients with Covid-19 has increased at University Hospital Waterford.
According to the HSE’s Daily Operations Update, there were 16 confirmed cases on site last night.
Three of those patients were being treated in intensive care.
In total there were 60 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals across the South East.
There were 20 each in both St Lukes, Kilkenny and Wexford General Hospital, 16 in Waterford and 4 at South Tipperary General Hospital.
9 of those patients were in intensive care at the time.
765 cases of the virus were confirmed yesterday, but fewer tests were carried out in the days around Christmas.
