Carlton captain Patrick Cripps has been playing with a fracture in his back this season, according to
The Age.
He has played every game so far this season, but has required weekly injections to get through.
The report suggests the Carlton co-captain suffered the injury in a pre-season game and it has held him back since.
Brisbane star Lachie Neale started the season with a similar injury, also playing through it.
Similarly to Neale, the report adds that Cripps’ injury is improving and he is slowly getting back to full strength.

AFL legend Leigh Matthews has questioned why Carlton co-captain Patrick Cripps started the second half of Sundayâs game against the Western Bulldogs on the bench.
Cripps, who gathered 15 touches and laid five tackles during the game, was relatively quiet throughout last Sunday s 16-point loss.
Matthews said âit just looked wrongâ that one of the clubâs leaders didnât start the third quarter on the field.
âI think this is important,â Matthews said on
Sportsday.
âThe captain is the leader of your playing group and in the old days, they were appointed by the club and the coaching group and now they might be appointed by the team itself.

West Coast has addressed a report suggesting premiership player Elliot Yeo could be put up for trade at seasonâs end.
Channel Sevenâs Tom Browne reported on Monday that the Eagles could look to trade Yeo who has been plagued by a persistent groin injury.
Yeo, a dual All-Australian and two-time best and fairest winner, hasnât played since Round 11 last season.
The 27-year-old is contracted to the Eagles until the end of 2023.
Browne also reported that West Coast is circling off-contract Carlton captain and Western Australian Patrick Cripps.
West Coast football boss Craig Vozzo says Yeo is a required player and refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding Cripps.

I’ve decided that it’s too risky to make predictions only about the margin of victory for a particular team, possibly the most veiled of all outcomes to forecast.
So in the interest of increasing my odds of success for each game, I will also be presenting ‘safe predictions’ for the games as well.
Mind you, the forecasts we’ve been making have been fairly safe already. With seven more correct last weekend we’ve now picked 47 winners out of 72 for the year, and the ELO-Following Football rating system is a more impressive 51 of 72 on its own after I made some rather unsafe overrides of the system early in the season.
We always knew Jeremy Cameron was a good player.
But this week on the Real Footy podcast, Michael Gleeson, Jake Niall and Greg Baum discuss how Cameronâs arrival from GWS has changed the Cats â and how the Cats have helped Cameron. What will it mean for Geelong when Patrick Dangerfield returns? How is he helping Gary Rohan? And thereâs a Tom Hawkins stat that shows just how good it is to play alongside him in the forward line.
Plus, we look at Chris Scottâs coaching decisions and how the Cats are moving the ball this season.
Despite the fact that Geelongâs win over Richmond on Friday was a season-shaping game, the Tigers canât be written off yet. Though they are well coached with a brilliant system, they were missing key players â specifically Trent Cotchin â which cost them against Geelong. Theyâre going to need those players back if they are to win cutthroat finals against the better teams in the competition. And can they solve their
