The Sarnia woman kept a diary when she was 11, but a friend found it and told others her secrets.

“Which, you can imagine, for a 11-year-old girl, is not so great,” she said.
Styndonck said that’s when she began to write in a more cryptic style and using imagery and the “painting of a visual picture of hurts or happiness” without being literal.
“And I just kind of kept with it,” she said. “It’s something that always made me feel better, to get it out of my head and onto the page.”

Friends may call 4-7pm Monday at Hugeback Johnson funeral home in New Hampton, and an hour before services at the church.
Services for a rural Winthrop woman, 65 year old Linda Moore, are Monday at 10:30 at St Patrick s Catholic church in Winthrop. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 2-5pm Sunday and an hour before services Monday at the church s Parish Center. There will also be a rosary and scripture service. Fawcett Schmitz funeral home in Winthrop is assisting the family.

Justice Joseph Donohue is retiring this month, but it’s not his idea.
“I did not aspire to retire,” said the life-long Sarnia resident who this month runs up against the rule that Superior Court justices must retire once they turn 75. “That’s one ambition I never had.”
Former Republican State Senator Jerry Apa passes away
Former Republican State Senator Jerry Apa, who served in both the House and in the Senate, passed away on April 1st with funeral services this weekend in Spearfish:
Jerry began his political career with his election to the Lawrence County Commission, serving from January 1979 to December 1986. He was elected, once again, to the Lawrence County Commission from January 1993 to December 1996. Jerry also served in both the South Dakota House of Representatives from 1997 to December 2000, and the South Dakota State Senate from January 2001 to December 2008, the last six years as chair of Senate Appropriations. He then retired from politics until he was elected mayor of Lead for one term in 2013.
