I don’t need to tell readers of The Republican and MassLive about the seemingly endless numbers of obituaries being published each day online and in print. Rare is the day I don’t see a name I recognize or catch a connection to a family I have known.

The Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be a virtual celebration of Irish heritage in 2021, organizers announced Wednesday.
“After much heartfelt consideration, the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee Inc. has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s physical parade and its related activities due to the on-going restrictions on gatherings caused by COVID-19,” the committee said on Facebook. “However, virtual plans are already set to Keep the Spirit of St. Patrick Alive in 2021!”
Saucy Brew Works opening first location in Detroit
Ohio-based Saucy Brew Works opens its first Detroit location on March 3 in Brush Park, according to a press release. Located in Bedrock’s City Modern development, the brewpub and coffeehouse will include indoor and outdoor seating as well as a “coffeehouse concept” called Saucy Coffee. In addition to offering German and American-style beers, the Detroit location will serve a menu of shared plates such as meatballs, roasted cauliflower, Bavarian pretzels, and thin crust pizza, including one pizza topped with Nashville-style hot chicken. Saucy Coffee will serve pour overs, espresso, and specialty coffee drinks. The Detroit brewpub marks the fourth location overall for Saucy Brew Works. [Official]
Bad news for St. Patrick s Day for the second year in a row.
The coronavirus pandemic has struck again! Organizers of the annual St. Patrick s Parade in Detroit have decided to cancel this year s event that was scheduled for Sunday, March 14th in Corktown. The United Irish Societies announced today that the parade and the Corktown Races will not be happening this year.

follow the COVID-19 safety protocols, it became very clear that it would be difficult to promote and host the 2021 Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade in a way that maintained safety for our sponsors, members, participants and viewers.Therefore, with heartfelt disappointment, the UIS and Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade Committee have decided to cancel the 2021 Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade this year.said United Irish Societies President Michael Kelly.

DETROIT - For the second year in a row, DetroitSt. Patrick s Parade has been canceled due to COVID-19 cautions.
The annual event, one of the biggest in the country was scheduled to resume operations March 14 of this year.
