COVID warning for Western Sydney venues
Three pubs and a shopping centre in Western Sydney have been added to a list of COVID-affected venues.
NSW Health issued alerts for the Village Tavern in Auburn, the Auburn Hotel and the Berala Hotel, as part of its investigation into the source of infection of a recently confirmed case.
Anyone who visited those venues at specific times between December 28 and January 14 is urged to get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
A total fire ban has been issued for regions in Victoria, while crews in South Australia work to keep a major grass fire at bay as strong winds and high temperatures generate dangerous fire conditions in several states today.
Victoria s fire ban has been issued for the Mallee, Wimmera and Northern Country regions, with no fires permitted to be lit in the open air today.
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is still working on the Blackford blaze which is now contained, however a current active Bushfire Advice message was issued last night.

We have three practices.
The one that I work in is in a town called Petersfield, a market town in the South Downs. It s a mainline train station to London Waterloo, so it s typical commuter belt: quite an affluent town, but it has pockets of poverty.
I was born here. It s a very well sought out area, because it s only about half an hour maximum drive to the coast. So, we re quite well situated: beautiful countryside, near London, near the sea, very family orientated.
Kathleen Jessop, a spokeswoman for the Victorian State Emergency Service, said “winds got really fierce, really quickly”.
“We did see loose bits of debris from things like pergolas, we did have tree branches blowing around in various areas,” she said. “There were some main roads blocked. In St Kilda we had a piece of corrugated iron that fell on some power lines.”’
Sydney is also facing the prospect of at least seven consecutive days of rain, according to the bureau’s latest forecast. Some rain is forecast to fall every day in the city from Monday to Sunday.
