Colorado State University has released hurricane season outlooks for decades. They call for an above-normal season.

NEW ORLEANS Colorado State University has released its first Hurricane Season outlook of 2021 and it calls for another above-average season. CSU calls for 17 named storms, eight hurricanes, and four major hurricanes. The 30-year average is 12 named storms, six hurricanes, and three major hurricanes.
El Nino is not currently expected through the peak of hurricane season, which can create more wind shear. Wind shear keeps the tropics quiet. The subtropics are also expected to be warmer than average.

NEW ORLEANS Hurricane season may be longer than normal, this coming season.
The National Hurricane Center is deciding whether the season should be extended, due to them seeing activity well before the start of the season.
The season normally starts June 1, but the NOAA is thinking about changing the date to May 15.
2020 Hurricane season had a listed 30 named storms.

NEW ORLEANS The chilly weather has settled in, but the coldest isn t here just yet. We ll start to see light freezing rain northwest of the area Sunday morning, but we stay above freezing in SE Louisiana with showers possible.
The Arctic air is forecast to move in by Monday. Models show the day starting in the 50s with temperatures plummeting into the 30s by the afternoon. It s possible some places north of the lake drop below freezing by Monday afternoon. The other important part of the forecast is the timing of the cold air and moisture.
