Posted on February 23, 2021
Hopland, Calif. February 23, 2020 Fetzer Vineyards, the nation’s 12th-largest wine marketer and a leading purveyor of wines and spirits from three origins, today announced the appointment of Chris McFerran to Senior Vice President, Sales.
McFerran joins the California vintner and importer with an impressive track record spanning two decades in the wine and beverage alcohol space, including the successful stewardship of strategic national accounts for some of the nation’s largest portfolio wine companies, and most recently wine and spirits sales leadership of the Beyond Beer Business Unit at Anheuser-Busch InBev. McFerran’s key accomplishments stretch from architecting the success of traditional offerings to driving alternative formats, including stewardship of 19 Crimes from launch to a top-20 wine brand, and catapulting BABE wine to the #1 canned wine in the coveted convenience channel.[i]
Related At Gamble Family Vineyards in Napa, California, the beavers are becoming a problem. “I’m speaking about it calmly right now,” Tom Gamble laughs. “On my worst days, I’m more like Bill Murray in ‘Caddyshack.’”
For years, Gamble Vineyards has worked to create a more biodiverse habitat on vineyard land, including establishing animal sanctuaries throughout the property and donating acreage to the Napa River Restoration project. Now the river’s growing beaver population is chewing the trees that Gamble has planted over the last 20 years.
“It’s interesting to see that we solved an issue, but it’s creating another issue,” says Gamble, the vineyard’s founder. Giving back habitat to native species is a matter of fine-tuning, of getting the ecosystem in balance and this sometimes takes some effort. “But the biodiversity is worth it,” Gamble says.
