On a night that was marked by mistakes, it seemed inevitable that Winnipeg’s Pierre-Luc Dubois would score the winning goal in overtime after Canadiens Jeff Petry and Joel Armia ran into each other.
Dubois beat Jake Allen at 4:29 of overtime to give the Jets a 4-3 win at the Bell Centre and each Winnipeg goal was the result of a mistake. There were missed coverages, long shifts that resulted from icing the puck and simple turnovers.

The Winnipeg Jets took advantage of mistakes by the Canadiens to score three goals.
A turnover by captain Shea Weber early in the third period led to Paul Stastny’s second goal of the game, as the second-place Jets ran their season record against Montreal to 3-0. Winnipeg opened a five-point lead over the fourth-place Canadiens in the Canadian division. Montreal, which is now 0-4 in 3-on-3 play, continues to struggle at home with a 4-5-1 record.
Winnipeg led the Canadiens 10-9 in shots on goal in the first period, but those numbers didn’t reflect the play. Winnipeg had a big edge in possession and took advantage of some sloppy play to grab a 2-0 lead.

This is the third meeting between these teams and the Jets won the first two in Winnipeg. The Jets were 6-3 winners last Thursday to spoil Dominique Ducharme’s debut as the interim head coach. It was a little tighter two nights later, when Montreal took Winnipeg to overtime before losing 2-1 on a goal by Paul Stastny. Winnipeg leads fourth-place Montreal by four points in the North Division standings, but Montreal has a game in hand.
