Pat McAfee on what it’s like having Vince McMahon in your ear

McAfee did get his handshake, and his first taste of having McMahon “in his ear” while calling the broadcast, last Friday. He’s been talking about it ever since.
On the Mon., April 26 edition of his regular daily sports talk show, McAfee broke down his brief pre-show meeting with Vince and Michael Cole, which he deemed a success since it opened with a firm handshake, involved McMahon ribbing Cole, and closed with a fist bump.
“I go in there, get called in after waiting like 15 minutes probably. I walk in there. He looks awesome! Swagged out. Great fit. Standing up at the time, and he goes, ‘Pat!’ And I go, “Mr. McMahon,” and I come in with the, you know I’m coming for it [for the handshake]. And he goes, ‘Vince,’ right before we make contact. Good shake, and then let go. First test passed, I feel like we had great web-to-web, good eye contact on it.
This Pat McAfee stuff better be a work

After his team’s loss at TakeOver WarGames earlier this month, Pat McAfee hasn’t been on NXT.
That seemed perfectly reasonable. Wrestling is not his full-time gig, and that was a reasonable stopping point for at least that chapter of his story. McAfee remained a total pro, selling his injuries and putting over the other men in the match with him from his full-time gig on
The Pat McAfee Show.
An item from last week’s
Wrestling Observer Newsletter about Pat Mac’s status got picked up by every outlet on the wrestle web (including by our Randall Ortman). It indicated that WWE made the call to take McAfee off television, and that he could be off until the spring. The former NFL All-Pro took screenshots of a bunch of the headlines and tweeted this:
Stone Cold’s a member of the Pat McAfee fan club

NFL All-Pro turned multimedia brand Pat McAfee has made quite an impression on the wrestling world this year with his run on NXT. Triple H, Shawn Michaels & their team are obviously fans. CM Punk was so taken by McAfee’s mic work he jumped on social media post-workout to discuss it.
Add Stone Cold to the list. While promoting season two of
Straight Up Steve Austin, the Rattlesnake made the above appearance on ESPN’s
Monday Tailgate yesterday (Dec. 15). He was asked to rate several football/wrestling crossovers, and McAfee topped the list.
