As several local school districts are removing masking requirements the issue came before the Wausau School Board. During the Board’s update on the Project Relaunch plan, an unexpected motion was made by Jon Creisher to make masks optional in schools immediately. Initial concerns were raised about the introduction of the motion by Board Treasurer Lance Trollop regarding the timing of the motion. Trollop explains that motions voted on at the regular board meeting usually go through a committee meeting first.

State Parks acquires Pat McGee trail | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 26, 2021 The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has acquired the 12.1-mile Pat McGee Trail in Cattaraugus County. Connecting the city of Salamanca and village of Cattaraugus, the multi-use trail along a former rail bed has connections with the current Finger Lakes Trail and the North Country Trail, which provide links to Allegany State Park in New York State and Allegany National Forest in Pennsylvania. “This acquisition protects the Pat McGee Trail from any potential for future development, and strengthens the existing greenway network in that region,” said Erik Kulleseid, state parks commissioner. “It guarantees continued public use of the trail and advances the goals of both the statewide Greenway Trails Plan and statewide Open Space Plan, which identified the Pat McGee Trail for public use.”

Whistleblower resigns from AG office claiming retaliation The Advocate and last updated 2021-04-22 23:25:30-04 LAFAYETTE, La. — Another high-level staffer from the Attorney General’s office has resigned. This time, it was former assistant attorney general Matthew Derbes, who has publicly admitted to being the whistleblower in the Pat Magee case. In his resignation letter, he claims that a suspect in a child pornography case was given preferential treatment for political reasons and that the case was mishandled by the AG’s office. Although the letter does not mention his name, the case description matches with Gregory Campo Jr. of Lafayette. He was named in a 2019 warrant for possession of child pornography, and, according to The Advocate, was not arrested for nearly a year.
