Southwest Airlines adds nine flights from Kansas City International Airport

Fully vaccinated people do not need to get COVID tests before or after domestic travel
Southwest Airlines announced that the carrier will add or resume service to nine U.S. cities from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) as part of a major system-wide expansion. Some cities are entirely new routes and some are pandemic-related service restorations.
Southwest Airlines‘ announcement comes as passenger numbers are on the increase as more and more Americans become vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just announced new guidelines for vaccinated people, stating that fully vaccinated people do not need to get COVID tests before or after domestic travel, and fully vaccinated people do not need self-quarantine after domestic travel.
Itching to get on a plane? It s about to get easier through one of Missouri s big-city airports.
Travelers who fly through Kansas City s main airport will soon experience new routes and pandemic-related service restorations as Southwest Airlines announced Friday that the carrier will add or resume service to nine U.S. cities.
In a news release, the Kansas City Aviation Department said passenger numbers are increasing as more Americans get vaccinated. To date, 30 percent of U.S. people are fully vaccinated, USA TODAY reported, among them 27.8 percent of Missourians, according to the state health department.
The aviation department cited Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance announced this week stating that fully vaccinated people do not need to get COVID-19 tests before or after domestic travel. Fully vaccinated people do not need to self-quarantine after domestic travel, either.
